CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Packeteer (NASDAQ:PKTR), the global leader in WAN application delivery, and Cavium Networks (NASDAQ:CAVM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing in networking, communications, storage and security applications, today announced a technology collaboration to deliver the industry’s highest speed network traffic processing solutions. With this collaboration, Packeteer will combine its leading network traffic visibility and control technology with Cavium’s OCTEON Multicore MIPS64 processors to create a series of high-throughput, high performance traffic processing solutions that will enable the fastest available intelligent application processing for distributed applications in environments requiring multi-gigabit traffic monitoring and real time policy enforcement response. The first solution to be released as part of this collaboration will be Packeteer’s new high throughput product architecture, codenamed “Turbo,” which will vastly increase the capacity of Packeteer’s high-end PacketShaper® 10000 product.

“Packeteer is focused on delivering the highest performance for network intelligence, policy response times and application and service delivery,” said Dave Côté, president and CEO of Packeteer. “In selecting Cavium, Packeteer has chosen a partner with mature, high throughput traffic processing technology and a future roadmap that dovetails with our vision of intelligent service assurance. Our collaboration with Cavium will continue to distinguish Packeteer with technology that moves well beyond mere application acceleration to enable high performance application and service delivery to any user anywhere in the enterprise.”
