SAN DIEGO -- Overland Storage, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVRL) today announced the ULTAMUS RAID 1200 storage array now is available. Ideally suited for small to mid-sized businesses and distributed enterprises, ULTAMUS RAID 1200 provides an affordable alternative to high-priced SANs as well as direct-attached and internal server-based storage.

ULTAMUS RAID 1200 supports the latest Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) architecture, featuring a combination of Serial ATA (SATA II) and SAS disk drives to offer unprecedented levels of configuration flexibility while dual active/active controllers, fully redundant critical components and a cableless design ensure continuous high availability. The ULTAMUS RAID 1200 houses up to 12 SATA II or SAS drives and up to 9 TB of storage capacity in each compact 2U rack-mountable enclosure. The extensible system can scale up to 60 drives and accommodates 1.75 TB to 45 TB of data. Advanced features and functionality include:

  • Hardware-accelerated RAID 6 for protection against dual drive failures, preserving data integrity and non-stop data access;

  • No single point of failure with fully redundant critical components including RAID controllers, fan modules and power supplies;

  • Multiple 4 Gb/second Fibre Channel host connectivity and 3 Gb/second SAS architecture;

  • Intuitive and easy-to-use browser-based graphical management console;

  • SNMP and SMI-S capabilities for integration with existing enterprise management platforms.

    According to Michael Kerman, vice president and chief strategy officer at Overland Storage, the ULTAMUS RAID 1200 offers customers exceptional investment protection through the use of next generation SAS and SATA II technologies. “With the ULTAMUS RAID 1200, Overland is offering a ‘future proof’ solution that can be configured to meet a wide range of availability, capacity and performance requirements without overburdening limited IT staff or straining restricted budgets,” he said. “Moreover, this robust platform can be combined with Overland’s REO SERIES® disk-based backup, recovery and VTL appliance and NEO SERIES® and ARCvault™ tape libraries for cost-effective tiered storage and end-to-end data protection.”

    ULTAMUS RAID 1200 is currently available from Overland partners worldwide at a starting MSRP of $18,325.Overland Storage Inc.
