RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- On Monday, September 24, 2007, Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) will break ground on an engineering lab facility located at the NetApp technology center in Research Triangle Park (RTP). NetApp will utilize the new facility to expand its engineering and development efforts in the region, which include furthering research initiatives to create more energy-conscious data centers.

The buildings infrastructure design reflects the innovative approach and commitment NetApp is taking to reduce data center power consumption. The estimated $61 million, 124,000-square-foot engineering lab facility will be home to 2,160 racks of data-processing equipment and is expected to meet the EPA’s 2011 performance criteria for energy efficiency inside state-of-the-art data centers.

Upon completion of the new facility in August 2008, the environmental benefit over the company’s prior design approach, which exceeds current EPA standards for state-of-the-art data center design, will be equivalent to taking 7,000 cars off the road.
