OUR FAVORITE SPAM NICKNAMES

»You have to tip your hat to the cunning spammers who use unfilterable mumbo jumbo to fill the "To" and "From" fields in their e-mail messages. Here's a list of the best spam nicknames we've seen:

» Wqfqr Cacymqcyv (Vanna, can I buy a vowel?)

» Speer L. Polo (must be selling upscale Viagra)

» Margery Link (sit, Margery, sit)» Wes Clark (ten hut!)

» Colt King (another Viagra pitch)

» Decoys U. Detoxed (they're just wooden ducks!)

» Tijuana Oliver (a relative of Indiana Jones, no doubt)

» Nostrils P. Veriest (when only the very best nostrils will do)» Dusty Loggins (could be worse ... Dusty Bottoms?)

» Dissolution L. Renewing (sounds biblical)

And for those of you 18 or older, we have an additional treat online: our editor's picks of the best Viagra/enhancement spam subject lines.

PRAYING FOR VIRUS PROTECTION

»Always willing to help out in an IT crunch, our own chief, Rob Preston, leads editor Mike Lee and a group of NETWORK COMPUTING interns through a Shinto purification ritual in an attempt to ward off the wily W32/Mydoom. A-@mm worm. With apologies and thanks to Reuters and the kind people at the Kanda Myojin Shrine in Tokyo.
