Isilon Gets File System Patent

SEATTLE -- Isilon(R) Systems, Inc.
(NASDAQ:ISLN), the leader in clustered storage, today announced that the company has been granted U.S. Patent 7,146,524 for its "Systems and methods for providing a distributed file system incorporating a virtual hot spare."

This core data protection feature of Isilon's OneFS(R) operating system software dynamically recreates data in the free-space of an Isilon IQ storage cluster, eliminating the need for idle, additional storage units, servers or spare disk drives -- dramatically reducing the cost and complexity of a customer's storage environment.

"OneFS is Isilon's core intellectual property and operates as the distributed file system software powering all of Isilon's clustered storage solutions," said Sujal Patel, Chief Technology Officer, Isilon Systems.
"The issuance of this patent reinforces Isilon's position as the pioneer and leader of the clustered storage market."
