IBM Unveils SAS Systems

ARMONK, N.Y. -- IBM today announced the introduction of the System Storage DS3000, powerful new entry-level disk arrays featuring integrated management software designed to give small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), as well as distributed large enterprise customers, a simple, reliable and affordable solution to handle all their storage needs.

A key feature of the new DS3000 is the intuitive Storage Manager software, which comes standard on all configurations, and allows customers to set up and manage their data resources in six easy steps. The simple configuration, administration and management of the DS3000 is an important feature for the target customers, which are SMBs, or remote offices that are part of a larger distributed enterprise, and may not have access to the IT expertise required to set up a storage network.

Small and medium businesses are faced with cost-effectively managing a rising tide of larger and more complex data, including video and audio files,” said Jim Gargan, vice president and business line executive, IBM. “The DS3000 Series provides an ideal solution, helping businesses to easily manage their data, while consequently freeing up IT administrator time and allowing them to focus on top business priorities.”
