CANNES, France -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), the market leader in disk-based data protection solutions, today announced the deployment of the FalconStor Continuous Data ProtectorTM (CDP) Virtual Appliance for VMware Virtual Infrastructure to provide data protection for the heterogeneous VMware- and Microsoft Windows-based infrastructure at Landkreis Soltau-Fallingbostel. Landkreis Soltau-Fallingbostel is the municipal authority responsible for the administration of the Soltau-Fallingbostel district of Lower Saxony, Germany.

The municipal authority invested in the FalconStor CDP Virtual Appliance as part of a VMware server virtualisation project. The FalconStor CDP Virtual Appliance was deployed to provide an advanced disaster recovery solution in the event of a system crash. A significant advantage of the solution is its capability to recover data with a simple ‘point and click’ procedure.

The FalconStor CDP Virtual Appliance provides reliable disaster protection to Landkreis Soltau-Fallingbostel via the adaptive replication of data to a secondary disaster recovery location. The ability of FalconStor solutions to monitor and protect a heterogeneous infrastructure is illustrated by the fact that the authority uses a storage area network at the primary data centre and direct attached storage at the disaster recovery site.

“We are pleased to provide the FalconStor CDP Virtual Appliance with its Snapshot Agent and Time Mark® options to Landkreis Soltau-Fallingbostel,” said Danielle Gauthier, Vice President, Marketing, EMEA, for FalconStor. “The solution offers the authority a level of data integrity not available in conventional solutions, tightly integrating with its Microsoft file system and IBM Lotus Notes database. Having the ability to stabilize active applications enables the authority to back up 5TB of active data with complete transactional and point-in-time integrity.”
