STOCKHOLM -- Edgeware, a provider of uniquely scalable and cost efficient high performance servers for on-demand television services, today announced that it has integrated the Verimatrix content protection system VCAS with its on-demand server Orbit 2x.

The award-winning Orbit 2x is a new type of on-demand server designed from ground up to address the needs of service providers in terms of scalability, reliability, performance and cost efficiency. Designed around a dedicated hardware streaming engine and solid state flash memory storage architecture it completely changes the rules by allowing fully distributed, no-touch deployments of interactive TV services, such as time shift TV, video-on-demand (VoD) and network personal video recorders (nPVR).

Content protection is an important part of any on-demand system and we are happy to be able to announce seamless interoperability between our new server and the CA system from one of the leading vendors” says Göran Appelquist, VP Business Development at Edgeware.
