5:45 PM -- The folks over at Dauger Research, a Huntington Beach, Calif., firm, call their product a dog.
"Pooch" is clustering software aimed at the supercomputing market. It's also a grinning four-footed furfest, guaranteed to tickle the ribs of even the dourest government geeks. Check it out here.
The dappled mascot recalls the name of the company's founder, Dean E. Dauger, PhD, who has his physics doctorate from UCLA in "Semiclassical Modeling of Quantum-Mechanical Multiparticle Systems using Parallel Particle-In-Cell Methods."
Maybe this is what happens when you let academics run their own company.
