SAN JOSE, Calif. — China’s broadband market is projected to more than double over the next few years, according to Chinese networking equipment provider ZTE Corp.

Total broadband subscribers are projected to grow from 50 million users in China today to 113.22 million in the next three years, said James Jiang, general manager of broadband access for ZTE, during a presentation at the WCA’s 12th Annual International Symposium and Expo on Wednesday (Jan. 18).

China’s broadband market is dominated by digital subscriber line (DSL) technology, followed by cable modems. China is evaluating a wireless technology such as WiMAX, but no decision has been made by the Chinese government in the arena, Jiang said.
