After almost two years in the storage saddle (yowch!), I'm leaving Byte and Switch. Next month, I will be joining Baseline, a monthly magazine that analyzes how organizations deploy information technology.

Since I began writing for Byte and Switch in December 2001, this Website has become the must-read for anyone who wants to know what's going on in the business. As our readers know, Byte and Switch does not candy-coat news – a tough pill to swallow for some storage vendors that are used to dealing with more, ah, docile trade publications.

This summer, I also helped launch Byte and Switch Insider, a subscription-based research service that provides monthly reports on essential storage networking topics. Most important, I've had (unexpectedly) more than a little bit of fun! This industry has offered a high-calorie diet of dramatic storylines, crazy plot twists, and a few distinctly displeasing characters. Here are a few of my favorite stories from the past two years:

Rest assured that Byte and Switch will continue to deliver the best coverage of the storage networking industry available anywhere.

Taking over as site editor is Mary Jander, who most recently has been a senior editor at Light Reading, our sister site dedicated to all things networking.

Mary has spent more than 18 years reporting and writing on information technology and networking, including nine years on the senior editorial team of Data Communications magazine. You can reach her nearly instantaneously at [email protected].

With that, I tip my sweat-stained storage networking Stetson and bid you happy trails. And remember: A man who tells the truth should keep his horse saddled.— Todd Spangler, US Editor (Ret.), Byte and Switch
