Trapeze Updates WLAN Switches, Software

WLAN network management vendor Trapeze Networks said Monday it has upgraded its hardware and software offerings aimed at enterprises.

The company said in a statement that its upgraded Mobility System Software 2.0 gives network managers more flexibility in locating both its wireless switches and access points without altering the topology of the wired network. The upgrades software gives network managers the ability to directly connect two devices in addition to connecting them to the network via the wired network, the company said. The upgrade also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).

In addition, the company said it also is now shipping its new MX-8 wireless switch aimed more at smaller deployments such as remote offices and a the MX-400 version of its wireless switch, which is aimed at for larger deployments.

The MX-8 switch, which is shipping now, is priced at $2,995. The MX-400 will ship next quarter and is priced at $21,995.
