PALO ALTO, Calif. -- PortAuthority Technologies, Inc., the leader in Information Leak Prevention (ILP), today announced that it uniquely meets organizations biggest challenges in protecting confidential information and preventing information leaks, as identified in the industrys latest independent research.
Announced yesterday by privacy and information management research firm the Ponemon Institute, the National Survey on the Detection and Prevention of Data Breaches examines the responses of 853 randomly selected, U.S.-based information security professionals to questions related to data protection and leak prevention within their organizations. It also provides insight related to data breach response; technologies, practices, and procedures used to detect and prevent data breaches; primary issues, challenges and possible barriers to effectively detecting and preventing data breaches; and enforcement of data protection policy. According to the study, 63 percent of respondents believe they cannot prevent a data breach. The top reason given for failed enforcement is lack of resources. In addition, despite the clear need, excessive cost was cited as the primary reason organizations do not use leak prevention technologies, with 35 percent stating that leak prevention technologies are too expensive.
To address these issues, PortAuthority automates information leak prevention capabilities for organizations, delivering real-time monitoring and reporting, and granular policy management for selective blocking and enforcement, helping organizations to leverage current resources and staffing levels.
We are an independent hospital, so we need to look for the best value from the solutions we implement, including information leak prevention, said Ron Uno, Manager, Information Management, at Kuakini Health System. PortAuthority is a cost-effective solution, and it is helping us automate these processes, so we can do more with what we have. We can't afford to have someone sit and monitor our email and communications traffic, and enforce our policies manually. With PortAuthority all this is automated, and we are now confident that we are closer to HIPAA compliance and more secure in our communications than before.
