Canadian vendor BlueTree Wireless Data Tuesday unveiled two ruggedized modems for use with EV-DO cellular data networks, one of which includes GPS location technology.

The company said in a statement that the modems has a second antenna connector to increase EV-DO reception sensitivity. In addition, its GPS 5600 model uses has a built-in GPS receiver from Trimble. The modems are aimed both at public safety users as well as enterprises, the company said.

The modems also meet both military and SAE specifications for ruggedness, the company said. It did not say which carriers have approved use of the modems, which will be available later this month.
