Qualcomm Unveils EV-DO Rev. B

Qualcomm said its CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision B chipsets will support a broad range of wireless data, music, gaming and multimedia entertainment devices.

Qualcomm said its CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision B will support three-channel downlink data speeds of 14.7 Mbps enabling user applications of VoIP with simultaneous Internet browsing. The firm expects initial commercial data modems utilizing Rev. B to be available late next year.

In an announcement Friday, Qualcomm said its Rev. B chipsets will support a broad range of wireless data, music, gaming and multimedia entertainment devices that will be thin, small, and light.

The new solutions, called Mobile Station Modem for Rev. B, will support up to three simultaneous channels of 1.25 MHz each. Qualcomm said the new solutions will also support mobile TV or streaming music with concurrent voice calls.
