In an early taste of an expected flood of ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless equipment, Belkin said Tuesday it plans to release a wireless USB hub for computers.

The hub would connect wirelessly to laptops and desktop computers using UWB technology. Users could then plug USB devices such as printers into the hub.

Belkin said it plans to start selling its four-port CableFree USB Hub in early spring. The hub will use UWB technology from Freescale Semiconductor, which is only one of two competing UWB technologies. Belkin provided no pricing information about the hub.
