Check Point Delivers IPS System

Check Point Software this week shipped a new intrusion prevention system (IPS) from technology acquired from NFR Security earlier this year.

The new platform, IPS-1, is a dedicated IPS that helps enterprises protect against worms, malware and other hybrid threats. In addition, Check Point has integrated intrusion prevention technology from NFR into key security-event management components of the Check Point product family, as well into its SmartCenter SmartView Tracker and Eventia Analyzer, which provide centralized logging and real-time event correlation and prioritization.

This integration means that Eventia Analyzer customers will be able to get new IPS capabilities immediately, enabling them to use a single security-event management tool to view, analyze and respond to security events.

Check Point's new IPS-1, which is priced starting at $7,000, includes such features as a hybrid detection engine that uses multiple detection and analysis techniques to prevent attacks, including zero-day protection; so-called confidence indexing to calibrate enforcement appropriate to risk levels; advanced forensic analysis and reporting; and centralized management and graphical views across all IPS-1 sensors.
