Turkish University Selects Nortel for Converged Network

University officials gain efficiencies and future-proof their networks by going to a converged network.

Bosphorus University in Istanbul announced that it has selected Nortel Networks solutions to converge its voice and data communications onto a single voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure.

Nortel already had been providing an advanced data networking solution to the school. University officials decided that they could gain efficiencies and future-proof their networks by going to a converged network.

The new network call for the deployment of a Meridian 1 IP-enabled Option 61C PBX, which serves 1,200 users on the Rumeli Hisary Campus, and a Meridian 1 IP-enabled Option 11C, which handles 200 users on the Kilyos Campus. Other Nortel gear and solutions deployed at the university include the Meridian Mail solution, DECT wireless phones, Internet Telephony Gateway; Conference Bridge; M3900 series digital telephone sets, i2002 and i2004 IP phones, and i2050 software phones.

The deployment was completed by MERPA Yletisim, a Nortel Networks 'Channel Partner' in Turkey.
