Telefonica de Espana has added 200,000 subscribers to its Imagenio Internet television (IPTV) service in its first year of service.

First launched last year in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain's two largest cities, the service is now available to 4 million households in 140 municipalities. Since the middle of last year, Telefonica has been deploying ADSL2+ digital subscriber line (DSL) throughout its network to support the interactive IPTV service.

The telecommunications carrier offers Imagenio individually, or as part of a triple-play package that includes broadband Internet access and voice over IP (VoIP) service. Subscribers receive 48 television and 15 audio channels, interactive information services and video on demand with person video recorder features.
