Now, with both security and nonsecurity companies driving toward a similar goal, the integration between infrastructure and security technologies could move faster--and in more useful directions--than if either type of company was in the market alone, and it's meaningful that a security company is now one of the largest software vendors. Security now matches infrastructure as one of the top IT priorities in the enterprise.

If you're a network administrator, this merger should be a signal to lay out your security/infrastructure consolidation plan. Organizations that plan their strategy now will be in a better position to take advantage of integrated technologies as they roll out in the coming months.
