Sun Microsystems has beat out competitors to land a multiyear agreement to supply storage systems and software to office products reseller Office Depot.

Sun Microsystems beat out competitors to land a multiyear agreement to supply storage systems and software to office products reseller Office Depot, Sun said Monday.

The project includes Solaris-based Sun Fire 15K servers, several V480 and Sun Fire 280R servers, and several Sun high-end StorEdge SE9900 products. Additional project components include the Sun Back-up Tape Solution consisting of Sun Fire volume enterprise servers.

In a statement, Sun said the agreement would assist the retailer to "reduce costs and complexities as it standardizes its business systems on Sun systems, software and solutions."

In related news, Sun recently announced that Office Depot would resell StarOffice 7, Sun's Java-based office suite that runs under Solaris, Windows and Linux.
