SAN JOSE, Calif., April 20. SonicWALL, Inc., a leading secure network infrastructure company, and Autotask Corporation, developer of the world's number one, fully-hosted IT business management platform, announced today the immediate availability of several seamless integration options for their respective products.
IT Service Providers and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) who use the SonicWALL Global Management System (GMS) to manage, monitor, and report on their customers' SonicWALL infrastructure and who also use the Autotask product to automate their internal processes for selling, implementing, delivering, and billing their services, now have the option to more tightly integrate both systems. The integration between the SonicWALL and Autotask products provides customers with several business benefits:
Fully Automated: Eliminates time-consuming steps to manually update SonicWALL device-specific information in the Autotask system.
Alerts Tied to Service Ticket Creation: Provides insight into the monitoring status of SonicWALL appliances under management by automating the process of tying alerts generated by GMS to the creation of a service tickets in Autotask. This capability not only enhances the efficiency of the IT service provider staff but also greatly improves response times for any unexpected network issues that customers may be facing.
Streamlined Renewal Process: Facilitates and streamlines the renewal process for subscription and support services associated with SonicWALL devices, providing continued recurring revenues for the IT Service Provider.
"SonicWALL understands that its IT service provider partners do not use the Global Management System in a vacuum. In fact, many partners use several software applications to improve efficiencies in the operations of their business, including IT Business Management tools such as Autotask," said Jan Sijp, Director of Product Management for SonicWALL. "Autotask is the first third-party packaged software application that seamlessly integrates with the GMS web services API. Customers can expect more third-party applications to be added to the SonicWALL ecosystem via the web services API in the future. Many partners in the SonicWALL reseller community use Autotask, and we are confident that the upcoming tighter integration between SonicWALL GMS and Autotask will benefit many of our IT solution provider partners who use both SonicWALL GMS and Autotask."
Web Services-Based Seamless Integration
The integration leverages the web services Application Programming Interface (API) which was introduced at the end of 2009 as part of version 6.0 of SonicWALL GMS. To facilitate this seamless integration, SonicWALL and Autotask turned to the team at MSPintegrations and its cloud-based integration platform.
"We have the utmost respect for SonicWALL and for Autotask and consider both of their products to be best of breed solutions for IT Service Providers and MSPs. We consider it a privilege to work with each of them and an honor that they would choose us to bring their technologies together," said Travis Austin, Founder of MSPintegrations. "Integrations that bring multiple APIs together are powerful, and we're excited to be able to connect these two great products in a way that will enhance operations for IT service providers. We are committed to helping companies leverage existing cloud-based solutions in more powerful ways, and this integration does just that."Customers are able to associate devices managed by SonicWALL GMS to customer accounts and contracts managed within the Autotask system. With this association, rich device-specific data, including subscription service and support license expiration information, is imported from SonicWALL GMS into Autotask. After the initial association, device information is dynamically updated on an ongoing basis. Within the Autotask system, Sales Opportunities, Service Tickets, and Billable Items (Invoices) are automatically created based on device-specific subscription license expiration dates as provided by SonicWALL GMS.
SonicWALL GMS has an expansive monitoring and alerting module. The GMS web services API serves up both device-specific alerts and alerts at the system level when, for example, a SonicWALL UTM device goes off-line or when a VPN tunnel goes down. The Autotask system can consume these alerts to automatically generate service tickets.
