Microsoft offers reward money for computer virus investigators. But is it a smokescreen for its own security issues?

Is this to say that people shouldn't be complaining? Not at all. In fact, users should be screaming for better controls to prevent Microsoft and other vendors from releasing harmful application code; lobbying for real consequences for releasing poorly developed code; and not buying upgrades until their current software investments have been made secure.
As consumers, we have to understand that only one thing will force vendors to start investing in security: financial loss or the threat of it. In the long run, investing in software security will always be less than the cost of not doing so.
