Nokia today announced a suite of Internet protocol security (IPSec) virtual private network (VPN)-based solutions that offer secure remote access to corporate networks from mobile devices and remote locations. The VPN suite includes four new IP VPN gateway systems, a mobile VPN client, and comprehensive management software.

The new suite takes its place alongside Nokia's existing IP security platforms for mobile workers, including an SSL VPN.

The new IP VPN uses Nokia's "Meta-Hop" technology that is designed to allow mobile workers to connect to IP-based applications securely and stay connected via self-learning and self-healing networks that track multiple connection paths.

The four new IPN VPN gateways are designed for enterprises of differing sizes. They include the Nokia 100i for mid to large-size enterprise offices; the Nokia 50i for branch enterprise offices; the Nokia 10i for small, remote offices; and the Nokia 5i for small offices needing high-speed broadband connectivity.

The Nokia Mobile VPN client, developed by Nokia for Symbian OS-based mobile devices, supports a variety of Nokia devices based on the Symbian OS. It includes support for a variety of authentication and encryption technologies, including legacy and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) based authentication; AES, DES and 3DES for encryption; and SHA-1 and MD5 for data integrity.Nokia IP VPN will be available as of February 2005. The IP VPN offering is priced beginning at U.S. $395.
