Microsoft Updates Small-Biz Phone Software

Microsoft has upgraded Response Point, its small-business VoIP system software, and announced the availability of a Response Point-based platform from Aastra Telecom.Response Point is aimed at businesses with up to 50 seats. The new Response Point Service Pack 1 includes "session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking for VoIP calling; click-to-call functionality for any contact using the Assistant software; a call history log; and the ability to select music for parked calls and hold time," according to the Microsoft press release. The upgrade is a free download.
At the same time, Aastra Telecom introduced AastraLink RP, a Response Point-based hardware platform. The company joins D-Link Systems and Quanta Computer, which already offered Response Point hardware.
