Lucent Wins $36 Million To Upgrade U.S. Army Networks In U.S., Europe

MANHASSET, N.Y. — Lucent Technologies said Thursday (April 14) it has received several contracts totaling $36.3 million to perform communications infrastructure upgrades at U.S. Army installations in North America and Europe.

The agreements are in support of the Army's Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP), which focuses on upgrading voice and data network infrastructure at Army bases globally.The bases included in the Lucent contract include Fort Gordon and Fort Benning in Georgia, Scofield Enclave in Hawaii, and three U.S. Army bases in Germany-- Husterhohe Kaserne, Pulaski Barracks, and Kleber Kaserne: In 2003, Lucent announced an earlier group of contracts with the Army valued at $50 million for infrastructure upgrades at Army installations in North America and Asia.Lucent Worldwide Services (LWS) will provide various services at each base including installation, integration and ongoing maintenance of the new communications infrastructure that ties together voice switches and high-speed optical and data equipment.
