IBM and Motorola Computer Group announced at the Supercomm show in Chicago a commitment to collaborate on standards-based computing platform technologies for the telecommunications industry based on IBM's eServer BladeCenter system.
By combining their technology solutions, the two firms say they will be offering computing solutions that reach from the enterprise to the network edge.
Under the terms of the agreement, Motorola will include IBM eServer BladeCenter, BladeCenter T and xSeries rack-optimized servers in its Application-Enabling platform family. IBM will embed Motorola's Service Availability Forum Application Interface Specification-compliant, high availability software in an as-yet unreleased version of the IBM eServer Integrated Platform for Telecommunications.
