Fluke To Acquire Visual Networks For $75 Million

In a move that will bolster its VoIP offerings, the Danaher Corp. announced that it will acquire Visual Networks for about $75 million. Visual, which has offerings in VoIP infrastructure, will be melded into Danaher’s Fluke Electronics Corp. unit.

Announced Friday, the deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2006. Visual had revenues of $52 million in 2004, the firm said in an announcement.

“We are looking forward to becoming an important part of an already successful organization that is clearly focused on our enterprise management market,” said Visual’s Lawrence Barker. “We see tremendous opportunity to meld our managed services capabilities with Fluke Networks’ successful Enterprise Division.” Barker is chairman, president, and chief executive of Visual.

Focusing on reliably and securely managing the delivery and performance of network traffic, Visual has been pursuing the VoIP market in recent months.
