Firm's Third-Party Support Vendors Bypass Its Security Measures
Would you do business with a company that sued within its own "ecosystem"?

To invoke the DMCA against companies that are supporting your equipment is self-defeating. Customers will not be happy, and third-party vendors will think twice about handling StorageTek systems. Even worse, the company's name will get a black mark for invoking one of the most despised laws in the industry--especially in a case that doesn't merit its use.
StorageTek wouldn't comment for this article, so there may be something we're missing. But for the moment, if you're considering StorageTek for tape backup solutions, be careful. Check with your third-party service organizations to be sure they can service the StorageTek products. And while you're at it, ask your legal team if they want to work with a vendor that sues within its own ecosystem.
