BT Infonet Debuts IP VPN For Global Enterprises

BT Infonet has announced the immediate availability of an application-driven multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) IP virtual private network (VPN) service for global enterprises.

Application Centric VPN (AC VPN) provides customers with a high level of visibility and control over their VPN and allows them to control and monitor the performance of applications running over BT Infonet's IP network. The new service provides information such as traffic flows and user response times for all applications running on the global network. Customers can set their own configurations and dynamically allocate VPN resources either in house, or through BT Infonet.

Available in 57 countries at speeds of up to 155 Mbps, the AC VPN service offers built-in compression and lets enterprises optimize their application performance by setting delay, jitter and packet loss parameters for their applications. Customers can control their VPNs and make real-time provisioning changes through BT Infonet's customer provisioning Web portal.

"AC VPN offers multinationals with sophisticated networking requirements multiple benefits," BT Infonet vice president of Network Services Marketing Jean-Noel Moneton said in a statement. "By optimizing applications and the underlying BT Infonet wide area network, clients will see less interruption of business processes, faster time to determine and correct performance issues, and more productive use of their IT resources."
