SEATTLE -- F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that its FirePass SSL VPN has achieved Secure Sockets Layer-Transport Layer Security (SSL-TLS) Virtual Private Networking (VPN) Certification version 3.0 from ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business. This prestigious certification is reserved for products that meet ICSA Labs’ demanding security standards for products implementing SSL-TLS for data confidentiality, authentication, and integrity assurance for inter-network transactions.

This accomplishment marks the latest of F5’s ongoing certification efforts with ICSA Labs, including Web Application Firewall version 2.0.1 certification for its BIG-IP® Application Security Manager™ product, as well as previous certifications for FirePass.

Version 3.0 of the ICSA Labs SSL-TLS certification testing features significant changes in functional, security, and cryptographic requirements, including:

  • Cache cleaning testing to ensure that end-users are protected from sensitive data disclosure, even in the case of abnormal session termination

  • Stronger and more updated ciphersuites (AES)

  • Enhanced logging, certificate management and validation, configuration persistence, and client requirements

“We are dedicated to keeping our customers’ data secure while simultaneously making it easy for enterprises to provide controlled remote access to corporate applications and information,” said Ameet Dhillon, Director of Product Management at F5. “SSL-TLS 3.0 certification from ICSA Labs provides additional peace of mind and a powerful proof point for organizations interested in deploying a secure remote access solution.”
