Senforce Technologies Inc. has announced a new, comprehensive security enforcement application designed to ensure that all endpoint devices on a wireless network comply with government security mandates.

Based on the company's location-aware technology, Senforce Connectivity Control enforces centrally-managed and continuously-enforced system connectivity policies for wireless networks and automatically distributes them to end-users. It ships with preconfigured templates that prevent or disable "at-risk" networking behavior, control wireless network usage by location and can disable Wi-Fi connectivity on a wireless local area network (LAN). Senforce Connectivity Control enforces the use of Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) on wireless connections.

Senforce Connectivity Control enforces requirements of the Department of Defense's Directive 8100.2, which governs the use of commercial Wi-Fi devices, services, technologies and networks. The software allows security administrators to enforce the use of virtual private networks (VPNs), restrict use of Bluetooth, infrared, FireWire and other communication ports and automatically distribute and apply WEP and WPA pre-shared keys without end-user intervention.

"The new Connectivity Control solution provides IT administrators with the most complete management and control available for Wi-Fi," Senforce vice president of product management Scott Richards said in a statement. "It maintains security protection for users in the office, at home, on the road or traveling abroad. Agencies will be able to restrict Wi-Fi connectivity to pre-defined locations, or entirely disable it altogether where wireless transmission may conflict with mission requirements or specific environments."
