CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- SekChek® Information Protection Services (IPS) today announced that its automated computer security assessment tool is now fully compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista.

"In line with all previous versions of Windows, our SekChek tool offers Windows Vista Users a quick, reliable method of assessing whether they have correctly configured their security controls and access privileges," says Andrew Chodelski, Vice President of Marketing, SekChek. "In Windows Vista, access privileges are more advanced than in previous versions of Windows. The SekChek security assessment tool offers companies confirmation of the effectiveness of their configurations, and confidence that their controls are in line with policy and leading practices for security."

SekChek operates by safely scanning a host system's security control settings, providing a complete - not sample-based - review of security controls. In turn, SekChek's assessment process analyzes critical security objects on the system under review, including users, groups, system account policies and selected file permissions. Besides reporting on effective implementation of controls, SekChek also compares a system's security settings with international leading practices. The results are benchmarked against statistical averages for 22 different industries, offering users context for interpreting the significance of any reported shortcomings.

In addition to Windows Vista, SekChek also supports previous versions of Windows 200x, AS/400 (iSeries), Windows NT, UNIX (all variants) and Novell / Netware.
