ATLANTA -- SecureWorks, a leading Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), announced today that it has released same-day protection for critical vulnerabilities found in Microsoft Windows, Office, and Excel products. Several of the Microsoft vulnerabilities allow for remote code execution, essentially enabling an attacker to have complete control over a user’s computer. Microsoft also released new patches today for these vulnerabilities.

“The SecureWorks security research team has diligently analyzed, developed and deployed same-day protection for our Network Intrusion Prevention Service (NIPS) clients,” said Allen Wilson, vice president of research at SecureWorks.

SecureWorks’ NIPS utilizes its award-winning iSensor®, an appliance placed on a company’s network which performs deep packet inspection on all traffic entering and leaving a network. A team of security analysts monitors the networks 24x7x365 looking for critical vulnerabilities, new attack types, unusual patterns and configuration changes.

“SecureWorks provides around-the-clock protection for our 1,300 clients by rapidly responding to the latest threats and deploying countermeasures to protect our clients,” said Wilson. “We recommend that our clients patch against the latest Microsoft vulnerabilities to address the root of the problem; however, our NIPS affords our clients precious time to fully exercise a more comprehensive vulnerability and patch management strategy,” continued Wilson.
