REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 13, Nimsoft, a business unit of CA, Inc. today announced availability of Nimsoft On Demand, a Software as a Service (SaaS) Unified Monitoring solution that delivers the robust capabilities and benefits of IT monitoring as an on-demand solution. With Nimsoft On Demand, emerging enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can maintain visibility into their business-critical IT infrastructure--including both their internal assets and those in the cloud--without having to purchase, administer or deploy monitoring hardware and software on their own premises.

Nimsoft On Demand is built on the proven technology of the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS), which provides broad, scalable, extensible, rapidly deployable and easy-to-use IT monitoring in a single product. It enables customers to implement NMS Unified Monitoring capabilities under an adaptable subscription model, allowing them to pay only for the level of monitoring they use at any given time.

With Nimsoft On Demand, organizations can:

  • Scale IT monitoring to keep pace with internal and external IT resource expansion

  • Quickly gain benefits via a rapidly deployable SaaS model

  • Help reduce costs associated with IT monitoring

  • Help enable the performance and availability of mission-critical business services and applications

"I have been waiting for an on-demand solution that makes sense in terms of functionality and cost effectiveness," said beta tester Toby Hosterman, CIO of National Pain Institute. "I'm anticipating Nimsoft On Demand will deliver all the functionality we've come to expect and help us lower the administrative burden on our small IT staff."

Nimsoft On Demand monitors external IT resources--including SaaS applications such as Salesforce.com and Google Apps, and infrastructure cloud services such as Rackspace Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Terramark and BlueLock. It also monitors internal resources including Microsoft Exchange servers and virtualized data centers powered by VMware and Citrix.

To begin using Nimsoft On Demand, customers can visit www.nimsoft.com/ondemand, and request a trial. After logging in, Nimsoft On Demand quickly begins to provide IT departments with visibility into their internal datacenter and cloud infrastructure."IDC forecasts a 2009-2013 CAGR of 26 percent for the worldwide cloud services market, which includes software-as-a-service offerings," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research director for enterprise system management software at IDC. "As more and more organizations implement public cloud and SaaS solutions they will need access to monitoring capabilities that provide end-to-end visibility across internally run applications and public services and can be deployed just as quickly as the services they are monitoring."

In addition to appealing to emerging enterprises seeking to minimize fixed technology overhead costs, Nimsoft On Demand offers a compelling value proposition to MSPs that need to quickly and cost-effectively respond to the growing market demand for outsourced IT management.

"A growing number of customers want to offload IT management tasks to a trustworthy service provider, so they can focus their attention and resources on their core business competencies," said Renee Symons, SyCom Technologies vice president, services operations. "We selected Nimsoft On Demand and its rich set of on-demand monitoring capabilities to help us profitably meet this growing market. We expect it to lower our total cost of service delivery and provide a foundation upon which we can build higher-value/higher-margin offerings."

"Nimsoft customers and prospects can now turn to the cloud with confidence, knowing that Nimsoft On Demand allows them to take advantage of the flexibility and cost savings of SaaS without sacrificing the quality, breadth or ease-of-use of their monitoring capabilities," said Gary Read, senior vice president and general manager of the Nimsoft Business Unit at CA. "Nimsoft now uniquely provides customers the flexibility to use either on-premise or SaaS-based management solutions to monitor their IT infrastructure, from the datacenter to the cloud."
