SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Silver Peak Systems (www.silver-peak.com), a leading provider of scalable Wide Area Network (WAN) acceleration appliances, today announced the company's NX series appliances and Global Management System (GMS) are now available through the EMC(R) Select Program. Through this program, customers can purchase a complete solution for fast and reliable data protection across the WAN directly from EMC. The EMC Select Program helps customers easily acquire all the required components that comprise an information infrastructure.

EMC will offer Silver Peak's NX-5000, NX-7000 and NX-8000 WAN acceleration appliances, as well as the Silver Peak Global management System (GMS). The Silver Peak NX appliances have been tested by EMC and are available immediately through EMC Select.

Silver Peak improves data protection in EMC(R) SRDF/A(R) (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility) and other replication and backup environments by overcoming a variety of factors that can hamper performance across the WAN, such as limited bandwidth, high latency, out-of-order packets and lost packets. The result is larger and faster data transfers for improved Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).

"With the addition of the Silver Peak NX series appliances, EMC is able to expand its portfolio of scalable solutions that help address the full array of challenges of data protection across the WAN," said Justin Bartinoski, manager, EMC Select. "WAN acceleration helps EMC customers better align IT practices with IT objectives, making it a perfect complement to our robust portfolio of backup and replication solutions."
