LAS VEGAS and EATONTOWN, N.J. -- Opnext, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXT), a global leader in state-of-the-art laser technology, today announced it will partner with the Ethernet Alliance to demonstrate select Ethernet technologies at Interop Las Vegas 2008 in booth #1567. The Interop exhibition opens on April 29 May 1 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Technologies to be demonstrated in the Ethernet Alliance booth include: SFP+, Backplane Ethernet, 10GBASE-T and Power over Ethernet (PoE). By proving interoperability, organizations can benefit from 10GbE technology to deliver high-performance data networking and low latency clustering for today and tomorrow’s rigorous networking demands.

Opnext is committed to supporting the Ethernet market with best in class products. At Interop, the company will showcase its SFP+ and X2 portfolio of products.

Ethernet Alliance members will demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability for 10GBASE-SR, 10GBASE-LRM, 10GBASE-T and PoE. These technologies are based on recently completed or emerging Ethernet standards–taking Ethernet into data centers, wiring closets, and building fiber riser backbones, as well as to corporate offices and wireless hotspots, and powering devices such as wireless access points.

“Since its inception, Opnext has been the leader in both laser technology and modules products for the 10G telecom and datacom markets,” said Rich Zoccolillo, vice president, pluggables business unit for Opnext. “Our full line-up of SFP+ modules leverages our 10Gbit/s experience to provide customers with outstanding performance and reliability.”
