Coyote Point Systems debuted its Equalizer SI Series at Interop this week. The series comprises Web server performance optimization appliances that are built to address the core availability and performance requirements of mainstream Web sites and server farms. The new Equalizer SI Series systems integrate an enhanced version of Coyote Point's adaptive server load balancing and traffic management software, consolidated switch intelligence and the latest Intel processor-based performance. The systems target businesses' increasing demand for consolidation and virtualization in today's mainstream datacenter front-end architectures.

Equalizer SI Series systems deliver a range of server/network load balancing and cluster management capabilities for datacenter environments that require high-end reliability, performance and scalability found with "big iron" servers, but featuring low, incremental cost of ownership characterized by commodity servers.

The new Equalizer SI Series family includes the enterprise-class E450si, mid-range E350si and entry-level E250si. New features and enhancements include:

  • Consolidated switching capacity of up to 16 ports with managed intelligence for integrated datacenter front end topologies

  • Support for up to 8,000,000 concurrent connections with wire-speed throughput

  • Incrementally scalable load balancing and traffic management for an unlimited number of virtual servers and up to 64 servers per cluster

  • Adaptive protection against massive Denial of Service (DoS) attacks

  • Built-in flash memory for zero-downtime reliability

  • Enhanced SSL acceleration for up to 4,000 encrypted transactions per second

Coyote Point's new Equalizer SI Series systems are available immediately and priced and packaged for broad "pay as you grow" adoption. A fully configured Equalizer E450si HA system with advanced server/network load balancing and Layer 4-7 content switching for unlimited virtual clusters with up to 64 servers per cluster and equipped with SSL acceleration and global server load balancing is priced at $13,700. An entry-level E250si appliance with core server load balancing functionality begins at $3,995.
