LANDesk Software Monday shipped its LANDesk Patch Manager 8, a centralized security patch management system that integrates with the Salt Lake City, Utah-based company's LANDesk Management Suite 8.

Patch Manager 8 compares systems on the network against a constantly-updated database of necessary patches, reports on unpatched vulnerabilities, alerts administrators to impending security fixes, and automatically downloads patches for deployment throughout the company.

Patches downloaded can be tested prior to installation, and the software offers auditing features to ensure that the correct patches are deployed, and installed properly, said LANDesk.

The software, which costs $12 per node per year, integrates with LANDesk's Management Suite 8, a network management console that LANDesk also sells.
