IDC: IBM Leads in ID & Access Management
IDC has ranked IBM as the worldwide revenue share leader in the identity and access management software marketplace
July 19, 2007
ARMONK, N.Y. -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that analyst firm IDC has ranked IBM as the worldwide revenue share leader in the identity and access management software marketplace based on total revenue for 2006, thanks in part to the strength of key offerings such as Tivoli Identity Manager, Tivoli Access Manager and Tivoli Federated Identity Manager.
In its July 2007 report, IDC ranks IBM as the worldwide leader for the first time, surpassing CA, which led in 2005. According to the independent report, IBM led all others with a 12.2 percent revenue share in 2006, a growth of 10.6 percent from 2005.
IDC reports that total worldwide revenue for identity and access management reached almost $3 billion in 2006 and is forecast to reach more than $4.9 billion by 2011. IDC defines identity and access management as a comprehensive set of solutions used to identify users in a system -- such as employees, customers and contractors -- and control access to resources within that system by associating user rights and restrictions with their established identity.
