PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP (NYSE:HPQ - News; Nasdaq:HPQ - News) has formed a Business Information Optimization unit within its HP Software organization to help companies make better decisions and manage their business-critical information throughout its lifecycle.

The new unit will be composed of two groups -- business intelligence and information management -- and will include software from across the company.

The business intelligence group will oversee HP Neoview, an enterprise-class data warehouse based on industry-standard technology. HP Neoview began shipping to select customers in October 2006 and plays a central role in HP's multibillion-dollar internal IT transformation.
