October 30, 2007
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, and EMC(r) Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced an interoperability agreement to accelerate the deployment of operationally advanced network management solutions on a high-performance network infrastructure. The agreement will simplify infrastructure management for customers using Foundry(tm) products and EMC Smarts(r) solutions by using technologies to rapidly automate the end-to-end management of advanced high-performance networking infrastructures.
As part of this agreement, both companies will cooperate in the areas of pre-certification and joint interoperability testing of Foundry's high performance routing and switching product portfolio with Smarts management software. Customers of both EMC and Foundry that implement this joint solution will benefit through an industry-leading operational management tool that simplifies operations and management of a high-performance network based on Foundry's rich product portfolio. With this pre-integrated solution, customers can automate the management of complex, dynamic, and distributed environments that are based on a high-performance networking infrastructure.
Smarts' model-based technology is the foundation for operational actions such as configuration discovery, event correlation, automated root cause analysis, impact analysis and operational triage automation.
Using Smarts' methodology, network administrators can simplify operations and ensure high availability of network services for the network being managed.
