CA has new architecture and a new advanced patch manager for its Desktop and Server Management r11 solution.

The company announced CA Desktop Management Suite for Windows and Unicenter Patch Management Monday. CA Public Relations Manager Rita O'Brien told TechWeb they are part of several enhancements to Desktop and Server Management r11.

The new solution provides a common architecture based on CA's Integration Platform. It integrates across core desktop and server management products to unite and simplify installation and operation. It offers patch-level reporting and software detection, as well as event-based discovery. It can run on Linux servers, while allowing remote control of Linux desktops and servers from Windows PCs.

The management suite has backup capabilities and performs lifecycle management. Its automated features to speed distribution, maintain inventories, configure machines, protect local data and manage remote systems. The patch management product works with CA Asset Management and Unicenter Software Delivery as well as the CA Desktop Management Suite for Windows. A 24-hour global online patch management team also monitors, validates, researches, publishes and distributes patch information.
