Zmanda introduces open-source backup and recovery software for Oracle database and joins Oracle unbreakable Linux program

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Zmanda, the leader in open source backup and recovery software, today announced that its flagship product, Amanda Enterprise now supports Oracle® Database running on Oracle Enterprise Linux and is now part of the Oracle Unbreakable Linux Support Program. In addition, Amanda Enterprise also supports Oracle Database on Solaris and Windows. Oracle users and IT administrators now have access to leading open source backup and recovery software that is radically simple to use, highly scalable, requires no scripting, and costs as much as 80 percent less than other commercial alternatives.

Oracle users can now take advantage of the many benefits of Amanda Enterprise’s mission-critical open source computing capabilities. This includes the use of an intuitively simple, yet powerful, web-based management console and affordable network backup and recovery solution that is highly scalable, heterogeneous and secure using open formats and a built-in intelligent backup scheduler that shortens backup window and reduces storage and bandwidth consumption.
