Verari Systems, which this week changed its name from RackSaver Inc., has bought MPI Software Technology Inc., an independent provider of high-performance software products and related services for managing parallel and cluster computers.

Verari, a developer of powerful, platform-independent blade computing systems, also announced today it has added industry veteran Masood Jabbar, former president of computer systems and executive vice president of global sales operations at Sun Microsystems to its management team.

The company is ranked by researcher IDC as the fifth-largest x86 server provider in the United States. The acquisiton of MPI Software Technology strengthens Verari Systems' existing manageability suite. Among the current MPI Software Technology installations are the supercomputers at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the fourth- and eighth- fastest supercomputers in the world.

Integration of the two companies' executive team and staff will begin immediately.
