OTTAWA and RESTON, Va. -- Third Brigade (www.thirbrigade.com), a security software company that specializes in intrusion prevention systems (IPS), today announced its software has been selected by TrialStat Corporation. TrialStat delivers electronic data management solutions as a hosted service for clinical research. A technology leader in their market, TrialStat’s customers include Contract Research Organizations (CROs), pharmaceutical companies and academic clinical investigators.

Clinical research data, by its nature, is highly confidential and represents a key asset for research organizations. Because TrialStat’s technology and services are critical to its customer’s success, the company is relentless about delivering a superior, consistent, and secure end-user experience.

“Regulatory bodies and our customers require that we meet or exceed industry best practices for data security, integrity and availability. We recognize that host-based IPS is a security best-practice and complements other aspects of our defense-in-depth strategy,” said Peter O’Blenis, Vice President of Product Development. “We selected Third Brigade to help ensure the high availability of our mission-critical applications, and to ensure that our customers’ data is never at risk due to data loss, or security breaches.”

Protecting custom-built applications from attackers that might try to exploit a known or unknown vulnerability is complex and requires a special approach. The IPS must be flexible and responsive. It must predict the ways in which an attacker might try to exploit a vulnerability in the system, and it must proactively prevent attacks before they reach the host.

“Third Brigade Deep Security was specifically designed to support the demanding needs of organizations that depend on custom-built applications, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology companies,” said Wael Mohamed, President and CEO of Third Brigade.
