OTTAWA -- Third Brigade (www.thirdbrigade.com), a security software company that specializes in host intrusion prevention systems (HIPS), today announced that it has signed a technology alliance agreement with ArcSight. As part of this agreement, Third Brigade will support the Common Event Format (CEF) standard, making it the first HIPS vendor to join approximately a dozen companies currently evaluating and supporting CEF. ArcSight is a leader in the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) market, according to recent reports from Gartner, IDC and Forrester.

The CEF standard is an open log management standard that improves the interoperability of security-related information from different security and network devices and applications. CEF provides technology companies and customers an extensible, text-based, high-performance format designed to support any source of event logs needed to gain a comprehensive view of an organization’s security and compliance posture.

“With the addition of the first HIPS endpoint security solution to the CEF ecosystem, customers can capture host-level security-related event information and correlate it with 170+ data sources from over 25 different categories in order to respond more effectively to security threats,” said Robert Ma, Vice President of Product Marketing at ArcSight. “By supporting CEF, Third Brigade joins a growing ecosystem of technology vendors whose solutions help customers gain insight into their security-related data for real-time threat management and regulatory compliance.”
