Sunrise Telecom Incorporated today announced the immediate availability of the STT Metro Carrier Ethernet verification platform, a complete field test platform addressing the service verification requirements for Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) External Network to Network Interfaces (ENNI).

The recently ratified MEF 26 ENNI Specification standardizes many of the service parameters necessary to extend a Carrier Ethernet service over multiple networks operated by separate operators. The STT Metro test set provides a complete solution for verifying services at the ENNI.

The STT Metro has been a popular choice of network operators for automated Carrier Ethernet field testing. Sunrise Telecom has enhanced the platform with Carrier Ethernet Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) capabilities designed to automate the process of validating the mandatory OAM functionality at the ENNI. This new capability completes the ENNI verification suite, which includes a broad range of tests for validating services provisioned between different network operators. The MEF ENNI defines interface and service attributes necessary for multiple operators to cooperate for the delivery of Carrier Ethernet services and enables the Global Interconnection of Carrier Ethernet services at Ethernet Network Exchange (ENX) points operated by major network operators around the world.

"Validating the accuracy of the service provisioning details, service attributes and service level agreement (SLA) at the interconnection point is critical to the successful deployment of services over the ENNI," said Craig Easley, vice president of marketing at Sunrise Telecom. "The Sunrise Telecom STT Metro automates the rigorous testing of Operator Virtual Connection (OVC) attributes, compliance with MEF 26 interface details, as well as verifies the correct operation of OAM functionality and Ethernet Protection switching at the ENNI."
