SBC Communications has announced an addition to its PremierSERV Network Management line of managed network support services that will provide real-time network and application performance tracking on multiple wide-area networks (WANs), regardless of the carrier.

SBC PremierSERVSM Network Management WAN View provides detailed monitoring for primary network elements and carrier-agnostic validation of IP application class-of-service delivery and WAN service level agreements. It provides real-time data on network application performance and permits the isolation of applications contributing to poor performance and network degradation.

The new offering provides proactive monitoring and notification at all times and supports detailed bandwidth planning. Network Management WAN View incorporates Visual Networks Inc.'s Visual UpTime Select network and application performance management software, providing thorough visibility and diagnostics that SBVC says will improve network and application availability.

"The addition of real-time monitoring tools allows SBC companies to provide the best of both worlds," SBC vice president for product management Mark Fishler said in a statement. "SBC companies manage network services on an ongoing basis, and our customers have the power to determine exactly how we're doing, at any given moment or in any location."

SBC PremierSERVSM Network Management WAN View is available as a stand-alone option for SBC managed service customers or as an additional component of one of the five service levels of the SBC PremierSERV Network Management solution.
