LONDON — Market research company iSuppli Corp. has ranked the top 25 semiconductor companies in terms of their projected 2005 revenues and reckons number one ranked Intel Corp. will leap ahead of its competition with 14.4 percent annual growth.

The only chip companies set to outgrow Intel are IBM Corp. which iSuppli (El Segundo, Calif.) predicts will achieve 30 percent growth and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. which the market researchers has growing at 18.5 percent.

The market research company includes fabless chip companies in its rankings table and has Nvidia growing at a 22.8 percent lick to claim 24th spot and overtake ATI Technologies Inc. in 25th place.

Ranked first Intel is expected to generate semiconductor revenue of $35.8 billion in 2005, up 14.4 percent from $31.3 billion in 2005. In contrast Samsung is expected to grow only 8.5 percent to $17.1 billion. This is a turn-around from last year when Samsung made strong gains on Intel.

Intel’s rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc., when lumped in with Spansion LLC, also made strong growth in 2005, and should see revenue up 11.8 percent at $5.7 billion in 2005 according to iSuppli. See related image
